Dreads Gone!!!

its kind of refreshing!

I’ve had the same hair for at least 4years, trying to work out how long, something like 4or 5 years though, and long hair since I left school! Over 10years id say total….

I remember getting dreads when me and Laura broke up, remember a line I think I heard Ani Difranco say or was quotes as saying that when ever something dramatic happened in her life she would change something about her to remind her. I remember Laura my ex really liked dreads at the time and when we broke up I decided the most fitting act of spite I could think of was to get my self her favourite hair style.

I’ve had such a good experience with them as well, I think I will always look back on that time of my life with fond memory’s. Especially the female attention, the countless girls who have said your dreads are fit, who could forget Squeak and “fitdreadlockboy” I still use that as a username on so many internet sites. Even more than that thought ill remember the friends that I probably wouldn’t have ever made if I hadn’t had dreads, at the top of that list is probably and Dana (who btw is the only girl who’s ever been attractive to me with dreads) but there are many other great people who I’ve become friends with and talk to who dreads have been a big factor in us getting to know each other. Ill also remember the association, with a type of crowd the “poi” crowd, or “hippy” kind of image that everyone has had of me for the past 5years (however untrue it always was). I guess some of it I will miss.

Why now, I still cant really answer that, I guess I just feel like, I’ve had a good 5years, and that the best of it is coming to an end, have to admit haven’t had the best of years, with woman and with my luck finding a decent job. I’m also nearing 27 and after 5years with the same image I’m quite excited about the prospect of freshening things up and maybe doing a bit of re inventing my self!

Its prob not just my hair!

ups and downs

what a (extended) weekend

Thursday! - the exeter first leg against the turky, felt like a fan of the unluckiest team in the world on Friday, after spending the evening at the nelson watching the exeter match. yeah we lost and Friday i couldn't really think about anything except how we had blown our chance and our season! band practice was a Major plus was good to start work on our album at practice on Friday getting the guide tracks down for the first few songs!

Saturday - rock climbing was not to be interrupted by a car accident in which we were all luck (see earlier blog) strange feeling all day took me along time to really speak to people about it after, not so much shock just felt a tad empty and ghost like after. it happened really quickly and it puts alot of things in prospective!

Sunday - we had the thatched aurora-project gig, not the best gig we have played by any means as their were alot of sound difficulties so it was a bit of an anti climax really was hoping for much more of a high from it but its an experience every time we play and you get something out of it even if it is just the experience! towards a good cause in the end as well! all fun

today- well where to begin, fighting with the Internet to try and watch the Exeter 2nd leg online.... a goal behind and then 2behind 20Min's left and its the most amazing turnaround ive ever seen! OMG still in shock from it! 4goals in 20Min's to stuff the turky so to speak!! here we go again!

of course im on a high no one can take away from me, then the expected happens (been expecting this for awhile now) me and my girlfriend have that argument that has been brewing for awhile, where we decide whats the point anymore!!

what a weekend!

i need to chill out 2night! rock and roll and the Ritz!!!

It never hurts to suck up to the boss

Now that’s a ferengi phrase but it hold true to a recent experience ive had looking for some work in between band things. Now im all for marketing and even selling and making a bit of profit but a couple of things I cant stand are brainwashing, profiteering from exploitation and also no offence to Americans that annoying fake motivational attitude.

Ill give you an overview, Ok so the premise of this job was along the lines of if you sell a product (door to door) then you get 100% commission on that sale and you direct superior also gets a commission and so the continues until the top level. The obvious goal is to recruit, train and promote those below you in order to maximize your return. Now whilst this I’m sure works as a business model it strikes me as being barely legal

Now the astonishing thing is the amount of young people who have been suckered into this scheme working 10-12hour day 5days a week (which by the way isn’t legal) under the premise that of course they are self employed! On its own that’s all well and good, many people my age work long hours for what is consider low pay, but most aren’t sold and in my mind exploited with the promise that in 8-10months you can be a “manager” because you have successfully learned how to exploit those who aren’t quite their yet. Indeed much like the product sales man uses a disguise to get through the door and trick the customer the whole job was sold to me under the illusion of a management training program, which had little real value except for learning the skills needed to exploit those stupid enough to be brainwashed through annoying American motivational speeches and blinded by their own greed.

Needless to say, I feel sorry for the countless graduates like my self who no doubt will be sitting right now in an interview room like myself being convinced they are being interviewed for a potential management position, when in-fact they will form noting more than the profit basis for foolish people who have been filling that role for the ones who came before them!
